1.    BY CAR

Every motorway joins up with the “Grande Raccordo Anulare” (or G.R.A.-Rome Ring Road) with os exits for the centre and Rome’s suburbs.  The nearest exit is the no. 1 "Aurelia Centro – Città del Vaticano". Straight on the Via Aurelia towards the center / Vatican City, at the Piazza S.G. Battista della Salle, turn on the right, towards Piazza Carpegna/Via Gregorio VII, follow the main road (via Gregorio VII) up to number 105, then turn on the right on Via Angelo Ranucci. Go straight on until the end of the road, then turn on the left (you will find the supermarket "Eurospin"), on vicolo del   Vicario and stop at a wooden gate on the right (138).

For those arriving:

  • from the North of Italy, the best way to reach the capital is via the Milan-Rome A1 motorway;
  • from the West of the country should instead take the Aurelia State Road and then the Civitavecchia-Rome A12 motorway;
  • from the Adriatic Coast, the best route is via the Aquila-Rome A24 motorway;
  • from the South, the Naples-Rome A1 motorway should be taken.

Especially signed-posted Limited Traffic Zones are in place in the historical center of the city: special permits, issued by Atac, The Capital’s Public Mobility Agency, are require in order to drive through these areas.

 2.    BY TRAIN

From Fiumicino airport, quickly reach the centre of Rome by Trenitalia rail services. From the train station, located inside the airport close to the arrival and departure Terminal, you can reach the city centre with plenty of frequent connections:

  • The “Leonardo Express”, non-stop service devoted exclusively to airport passengers, to/from Roma Termini with departures every 30 minutes and a journey time of 31 minutes;
  • The FL1 rail line regional trains to/from other stations in Rome, including Rome Tiburtina, with departures every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 on public holidays

Facilitations at the airport for those travelling with the Leonardo Express.

Anyone who buys a ticket online on the Leonardo Express www.trenitalia.comcan further speed up the security checks by using the Fast Track service at Terminal 3, at the discounted price of € 4.00 instead of € 5.00. Just show the Leonardo Express ticket purchased online - valid for the day, duly printed - to the staff of the Info Point of Aeroporti di Roma at T3, to get animmediate 20% discount.

The holders of Leonardo Express tickets purchased online also have a facilitation on the price of access to the VIP lounges (Le Anfore of boarding area G and I Mosaici of boarding area D) for a privileged and comfortable pause while waiting for boarding.

The access price is reduced from € 30.00 to € 24.00 just by showing the Leonardo Express ticket purchased online - and valid for the day - to the staff of the Aeroporti di Roma T1 and T3 Info Point.

Particular attention is given to families with children, if the adults show their online ticket valid for the day:

1) for each adult with a Fast Track Pass, one child under the age of 12 can access for free.

2) access to the VIP lounges is free for children 0-2 years old, with a 50% discount on the full rate for children between 2 and 12 years old).

From Ciampino Airport, The nearest railway station to "Giovan Battista Pastine" airport is Ciampino Città, connected to the airport by the buses COTRAL/SCHIAFFINI every 30 minutes. The traveling time is about 5 minutes. Tickets, sold by authorised personnel on the bus and at the station, cost 1 euro.

A surface light rail system connects Ciampino railway station to Termini railway station in about 15 minutes.

Once you reach the Roma Termini railway station, you can take bus no. 64 and get off to “Stazione San Pietro” or the subway "Line - Red" towards Battistini and get off to "Ottaviano San Pietro". From either station 10 minutes walk to get home. 


3.    BY TAXI

At Terminals there is available a taxi service to Rome city center. The fares for the service are the following:

  • from- to Fiumicino Airport- Ostiense Station 45 euro;
  • from- to Fiumicino Airport-Aurelian Walls 48 euro;
  • from- to Fiumicino Airport- Tiburtina Station 55 euro;
  • from- to Fiumicino Airport-Civitavecchia Harbor 120 euro;
  • from- to Fiumicino Airport-Magliana Castle 30 euro;
  • from- to Fiumicino Airport- New Rome Fair 25 euro;
  • from- to Fiumicino Airport-Ciampino Airport 50 euro;
  • from-to  Ciampino Airport- Aurelian Walls 30 euro;
  • from-to  Ciampino Airport- Ostiense Station 30 euro;
  • from-to  Ciampino Airport- Tiburtina Station 35 euro;
  • from-to  Ciampino Airport- Fiumicino Airport 50 euro.

The baggage is included, for a maximum of four passengers. The cost for the service is the same also from Rome to Fiumicino airport.

The cars for the taxi service of the City of Rome are white and can be recognized by the sign "TAXI" on the car top and by the identifying licence number on the doors, on the back and inside the car.

ATTENTION: any other vehicle at the airport exit could be driven by people without a regular authorization of the taxi or of the rent service and the fee required could be superior or however different from the fee foreseen by Comune di Roma. We advice you to be suspicious of people, inside the airport, who propose transport services towards the city.
